“Pass the Millionaires Tax”

Deb lives in Aberdeen. She’s urging state lawmakers to reject harmful cuts and pass the Millionaires Tax on the super-rich, which will provide funding for our childcare, rural hospitals, and schools. Check out her testimony in the WA Senate Ways & Means Committee:

My name is Deb Wilson. I live in Aberdeen. Funding essential public programs should not fall only to those of us with the least. Multi-millionaires and wealthy corporations pay far less in taxes than the rest of us. They can pay their share to support the needs of the many.

We’re getting priced out of Washington. Prescription drugs are overpriced, making it a decision between rent and my husband’s ability to breathe. Suffocation is not the way anyone should go. This lack of medication also leads to emergency department visits, which are far more costly than one or two preventative medication costs.

This bill is a chance to protect our future and prevent cuts to healthcare in years to come. Corporations and millionaires should contribute to government programs for everyone: daycare, healthcare, healthy homes, and more.

Washington State has the opportunity to even out the tax inequalities in our state. I hope that you will support the Millionaires Tax. Thank you.
